Each clock ticks in a different rhythm. One counts heartbeats. One counts apologies never spoken. One counts the number of times the dreamer almost said; "I love you" but didn't.
Charlie, watching from the Bureau's dream observatory, a mezzanine made of maybe, notes that this dream doesn't want to be interpreted. It wants to be felt.
He stamps it; "Midnight: Proceed Without Map."
And files it under: Rooms That Remember You Before You Enter.
Outside, the fog begins to sing again. Another envelope arrives. It smells like rain on old paper.
