Chapter 56
Betsy was originally from the town of Pickerington just outside of Columbus, Ohio, where she attended both primary and secondary school. Her life had been almost a complete mystery to Frank, as they were never close enough to reveal their life stories to each other. It wasn’t until her funeral that he began to learn about some of the details of her life by listening to her parents and others who knew her. As funerals go, hers was both sad and beautiful, with parents and friends gathered around a finished mahogany casket. The staff of the funeral home had done a remarkable job of preserving her natural beauty as if she were still alive. Frank was asked to speak during the eulogy but decided against it, choosing instead to remain in the back, attempting to create some degree of anonymity. For reasons of his own, he did not want to be recognized as a political figure. It was the same at the burial site.
