Richard had always known how to break into cars, a family inherited skill. He did that as a teen just to show that he could, not for profit. This bright approach brought about no money, two felony convictions and two stays in the county jail, which he secretly liked; having used this opportunity to become a top notch handball player.
His criminal history prevented him from obtaining a license to be a repo man, though no one bothered to notice if he tagged along with his older, licensed partner, Bud, and did all the work including being shot at, for a 25% cut.
It seemed a small, though marginally profitable step from abducting cars for no compensation being a low paid repo man, to abducting White, detached humans for a pittance. Caveat emptor!
One night he escaped the clutches of Micky and went with his partner Bud to a bar for a few drinks. Bud told him of a “new” gig – abducting White humans who live away from people and alone in a remote area.
Richard knew of one such character, a friend of his uncle’s. Elliot Robinson was a middle aged, complete computer geek, who made a “living” distributing kiddie porn under a secret VPN, and lived in a trailer two miles from his nearest neighbor in Grants.
