Prescient Roger panicked, and brought in the rest of the bags. Bibi hurled the first bag into the ocean. It didn’t sink. It skimmed across the surface, skipping like a stone; each bounce releasing sounds. Not splashes, but drum hits. Snares. Feedback. A chorus that seems to name him.
Troy and Roger left. Back on the road, they saw that the black SUV was still behind them.
Roger said: “Some things never change.”
