At nineteen, with a half-finished GED and a reputation for being "resourceful," she fell in with Dewey Tallman; a local hustler who promised shortcuts. With $372, a second hand laptop, and relentless internet tutorials, Jolene launched TrashCraft: an upcycled furniture brand made from broken barstools, discarded wood, and vintage doorknobs. Her first sale was to a Brooklyn hipster who called it "post-capitalist chic."
