knowledge that trust was given to those undeserving, that expectations were shattered with no remorse.
Or maybe it is something deeper; the horrifying certainty that some things, some people, some ideas are so repugnant that engaging with them, even in anger, is an act of defilement. Better to say nothing. Better to turn away.
And yet, despite the silence, disgust does not rest. It lurks in every gesture, in every narrowed eye. It bleeds into actions; into avoidance, into refusal, into quiet, merciless judgment. The disgusted are never neutral. Their silence is their weapon. Their absence is their verdict.
In a world filled with noise, opinions, and desperate justifications, the refusal to speak is the final condemnation.
That Biden didn’t need “due process” to fly in criminal gang members necessitates Trump exhorting “due process” before flying the bums back out is a “conservative” Supreme Court dictate not worthy of comment. Worse, it is merely a reflection of all the other shit given us.
But, if one is so disposed, rather than say nothing, perhaps a similar statement can be made by saying nonsense.
