This ruse also served as well as initiating a government ordered coverup of any possible investigation; a physical truth as well as in that Mayor Grabbin Nuisanstein invoked emergency powers which allowed him to circumvent established law and ordered the local papers to make no more reports about the fish. But, it was too late for secrecy as the residents of Whitewater already knew, and now aroused even those who never previously visited the beach began to do so regularly. More fishies died on the widening beach every day and were diligently collected and cremated by local authorities through their non-compete-contracting pals.
