It is about Geraldine and her children who move from Chicago's west side to Southeast Iowa City. Mikos is a University of Iowa graduate student as well as a social worker who works with his girlfriend Heather Carlson. Georgia moves from West Des Moines Iowa from a domestic violence shelter which she discovers Geraldine sleeping with her Mc Donald's Supervisor. Her two youngest children Henry and Ramona gets taking into foster care as Geraldine drinks alcohol and flirt with guys on Tagged and Facebook.
