CHAPTER SIXTEEN

CHRISTMAS AT SUMMER'S

On Christmas day Jane and Michael arrived at Summer's house. They had been invited with Zac warning them to wear baggy pants. “Madge will be cooking up a storm and none of us will fit in to our clothes again for a good two weeks.”

Summer's Brother Ethan, his Wife Amy, and their Daughters Eloise and Madeline arrived.

Ethan beamed at Jane and said “So glad to finally meet you. Summer and Zac have kept me up to date on how you are managing to get to know the family. which I imagine is probably a lot to take on. In a manner of speaking, considering you are Zac's Sister, I am actually your Uncle so I would be more than happy for you to call me that.”

“Thank you that is a lovely Christmas present” said Jane. She was almost overwhelmed with the feelings that had come over her. Not only did she have a new family but it had expanded to a larger degree in one foul swoop.

Summer gave Jane a book called 'IT'S OKAY TO MAKE MISTAKES' and Jane gave her a pair of pyjamas with a 'WAKE UP SLEEPY HEAD' logo on it.

Michael gave each and everyone a candle he had made. “It is something I do at home, a silly little hobby that keeps me busy.”

“Wow.” said Summer “Mine smells like roses, what does your one smell like Zac?”

“I don't know, I think it is lavender, whatever the scent is it smells divine. Thanks Michael, you should franchise this.”

Michael looked suitably pleased and even blushed.

Jane handed Alex a very large present saying “I can return it if you want”. It was a robot vac, something Alex had threatened to buy for himself but had never got around to purchasing. As he was the main cleaner in the house he regarded the gift as if he had been given a precious diamond. “I will treasure this with all my heart” Alex said sincerely.

With that Jane said “Here is your gift Zac. I arranged to have it made shortly after meeting you. I hope you like it.”

Zac opened the wrapping and found a bracelet in white gold. Zac liked to wear jewellery, chains, bracelets, whatever, but he had never seen anything quite as unique as this. The bracelet chain was beautiful but the clasp was extraordinary, two hands that clipped in together perfectly.

“I don't know what to say” said Zac.

“Then don't say anything and give her a hug you twit” said Alex.

Sister and Brother stood up at that point and did what they had been told to do.
