The distinction, the difference, is also the difference between spirit and earth, between the high and the low. Yet, at the same time, by bringing these two seemingly distinct emotions into the same sonnet cycle, Shakespeare appears to commenting about how the two are invariably linked together. We are both earth and spirit, and we feel both lust and love.
