1. Seek out mastery.
If you’re going to pursue something, pursue it greatly. Master every aspect of your product or service. Don’t just benchmark against any competitor; find the best in your field and other fields.
Task: Decide what you want to emulate or beat and then work toward it every day. You don’t need to be great at everything; just masterful in the things customers are willing to pay you for.
