16. Astral Oneness
When you make the two into one, and when you make the inner as the outer, and the upper as the lower, and when you make male and female into a single one, so that the male shall not be male, and the female shall not be female: . . . then you will enter [the kingdom].
The Gnostic Apostle Thomas, 24:22
When both hugging partners feel fully comfortable and safe, and are able to completely let go and surrender, something magical happens.
While the skin is the boundary of our physical body to the outside world, our astral bodies don't have fixed boundaries like that. When we are in a close embrace with aligned chakras and wide-open heart centres, our astral bodies overlap and blend together.
In this state, we are more than just two individual souls. Together, we transcend duality: we can still feel ourselves and the other soul, but we also unite to form one being. While all three perspectives can be experienced simultaneously, focusing on the feeling of unity usually feels most pleasurable. We become the Three, yin and yang and the often-overlooked circle around the yin-yang symbol. In this third state, we can create, forgive, and heal anything and everything.
We can also experience this feeling of oneness by simply holding hands. However, the astral energies flow with less intensity than during a hugging meditation because the chakras are not aligned with each other.
