Patti Throop
Arguably one of the most beautiful contestants of Miss America, Patricia Elaine Throop was born in June 1934 to Edward and Iris Throop. She was attending Lewis & Clark College when she was crowned Miss Portland. She was Miss Oregon and was a semifinalist in Miss America. In addition to being crowned Miss Oregon of 1953, she was Queen of the National Flower Week. It was a great year for her. She had a successful modeling career with Mayfield Cigarettes and was a showgirl at The Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Although retired, her daughter Melanie Iris Pennell is a model and actress.
