1906, in return for Fred Beebe and Pete Noonan; two less than average big leaguers, where he continued to put up good numbers for a few more years, though he pitched fewer innings; as is expected with age.
Besides capturing the interest of the Cubs in his rookie year, Brown also caught the eye of Miss Sarah Burgham. They married December 17, 1903, in Rosedale, Indiana, shortly before he joined the Chicago team. The marriage lasted 45 years, until Mordecai’s death. Sarah died 10 years later on October 5, 1958.
