overall low scoring era, his ERA for the best five was still 1.95. Yet the baseball “experts” had to avoid tripping over themselves in their rush to install Koufax in the Hall of Fame. Please don’t misunderstand; this is not said to denigrate Koufax five year greatness. It is a plea to fully recognize Mordecai Brown’s five better years, to which he added eight excellent ones, and one fade which exceeds averages.
