Perhaps Mordecai’s best individual accomplishment was the consistency of posting low ERA’s; which is undeniably the single most important measurement of gauging a pitcher’s performance.

The great Walter Johnson, considered by many the greatest American League pitcher of all time and inducted into the Hall of Fame among the first elite five, went under 2.00 seven consecutive years from 1910-1916, though his aggregate for those years is higher at 1.74 than the 1.56 Brownie posted in the seven years from 1904-1910, his 2.17 in 1905 breaking the consecutive aspect of the streak.
