The collaborators involved in the agriculture cohort consortium are mostly from the northern hemisphere, but the group is trying to recruit collaborators in Latin America.
In terms of the environment, epidemiology is a very blunt tool—researchers are unable to
calibrate the tools available to study environmental anomalies such as cancer clusters. The
current paradigm for risk identification and prevention is not adequate to protect public
health. Many successful examples of the precautionary principle can be seen in other
countries; the U.S. needs to follow suit and redevelop its approach toward chemical testing
and setting policy.
