Reading is an individual activity, but with manga reading the situation is somewhat different, it allows you to connect with a huge number of people who are also interested in comics. Readers of comics are given complete freedom of interpretation, not least of which are things such as the breakdown of the page into sections, the size and shape of the "bubble" for direct speech, and the nature of character descriptions. Recently, thanks to the Internet, it has become easier for readers to share their opinions with other enthusiasts. It is no coincidence that manga have become a cultural phenomenon on a global scale.

The characters in Japanese manga, which developed under the influence of foreign comics, are nothing like the Japanese. I think it is this "ethnic ambiguity" of the characters that makes it easier for people from different parts of the world to perceive manga. Also a signature feature of Japanese comics is the high degree of convention, the presence of a pictorial code, so many children engage in re-drawing their favourite comic book and try to draw their own. Almost simultaneously with the spread of manga around the world, books on how to draw a manga began to appear. It turns out that the comic book is not just a reading, but also a way of expressing oneself. One of the most important factors that ensured manga's popularity, I think, is its accessibility to co-participation.
