Good concept but the story can get a bit over the top on ocassions. With all the build up /potential here for the cross time war - all over in a flash.
Pretty ordinary even for the genre - could have been a good story but it seemed overly quick and uncomplicated - as I say, overall pretty disappointing.
A fairly ordinary example of Verne's work - hard to believe that the main characters could just be so obnoxious - perhaps written to try to give a moral story about oppression but it detracted...
not a bad example of the genre - all the normal expected content. Probably a bit ahead of its time at the time - not all Indians were savages. Worth reading but not spectacular.
A bit surprisingly I agree with the other reviewers. I did not expect much from the book but it was quite captivating and it is well worth a read.
Ok book - very much in the mold of Island of Dr Moreau - classic example of genre/ era.
A good example of the genre and era - a bit like some of Jules Vernes books - a lost civilisation under the earths surface with advanced technology but no morals.
Quite a good story line - keeps the story/ pace moving along. Well worth a read
Story line not bad but would have been far better to have had it properly translated
standard sort of story for the time (I seem to be saying that in quite a few reviews!) - worth reading but nothing spectacular.
