Teach while walking the classroom. Don’t anchor yourself to the front of the room or to your desk.
This enables you to stand beside the recalcitrant students and offer support to students who need it. With my lesson plans and activities on PowerPoint, I control the lesson from anywhere with a laser pointer like this one.
