Five young girls are dead in a small Utah community. Their long, dark hair is the only common element. Don Rodriquez has less than 30 days to find a job and a home for himself and his 12-year-old daughter, Christina; or finish a 90-day stay in the county lock-up. One more explosion of his volatile temper will ruin everything. Melvin Brigs, a friendly landlord makes Don and Christina an offer that they should have turned down. Don knows that the previous tenants moved out in a hurry--he just doesn't know why. Download this FREE e-Book today!

Best selling author, Ken Merrell, a retired fifty-one-year-old husband, grandpa, father of six, business man, artist, and sculptor. His experience as a former undercover police informant gives him insight to the working minds of his characters as he leads you down a path of unsettling twists and turns. The only thing you can expect is to be thoroughly entertained.
Ebooks are allowing me to explore genres I would not purchase in print - so was well rewarded in my choice of Ken's book. Fascinating plot (though I did twig as to the 'who' it was still great to find out how it all unfolded). Looking forward to the Identy Check...
Very, very good book. I really enjoyed the book and I would recommend to anyone looking for a light thriller. It is worth reading. If the author continues writing I'll continue reading.
It has been a long time since I've read a book that has held my attention for so long at a time. After I started reading it, I would stay up longer than I should have, because I also couldn't put it down. Great reading.
Another great book, hope to see more in the future. My only criticism would be that between the two book there is too many redundant descriptions of characters. Not sure how many more times I could stand to read and old man described as a "codger" or a person having "dishwater blond hair". But that would not stop me from reading his two books by any means.
A fast paced thriller with intricate plots and well developed characters. The length of the book made it possible really get into it. A classic case of wanting to get to the end as quickly as possible and then being dissappointed that it was finished! I look forward to reading more of this writer's work.
Very good! However it would be better if the 'god' preaching was left out. Made the smoothness of the story stumble and seemed inappropriate in this context. Just skip over those bits because apart from that being irritating, the book was very well written and I couldn't put it down. :-)
Another great story by Ken Merrell. This one I stayed up until four am because I just could not put it down. If he has written any more books, please bring them to the site. My next step is to his website to see if he has written any more. Big thumbs up!
Other than our baby, everything else was neglected when my wife could not put down The Landlord. Then, when I picked it up, the neglect came from me. I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN, EITHER!
The character named Melvin Briggs just could not be the person he seemed. The author superbly paints him in a manner that convinces you against all your reason that Briggs is not who you reason him to be.
Mr. Merrell's character portrayals snap your linear train of thought to consider multi-dimensional possibilities for all characters in the book. Are people who they appear to be? Don't read the ending first!!!!
