A couple of things happened since the publication of ‘A Hand in Horror’, the ‘how to be a better
horror writer’ book aimed at the greats Stephen King and James Herbert, to make them even greater.
Put together by Frankie and team using ‘teaching’ works by almost name sakes Stephen Cling and
James Turbot, the book aims to show King and Herbert how to increase sales and build bigger fan
bases.
A Hand in Horror proved quite popular (and one can only hope it carries on that way).
Secondly, James Turbot went quiet for some reason. The question is though, has James Herbert
felt the relief? And is he better than what he was now? Only then did the ever enthusiastic Cling come
up with the idea to showcase his work i.e. The Chizzel House of Horror. The superior cousin to The
Hammer House.
In a beautiful act of friendship, Stephen Cling, knowing of Frankie’s efforts at horror, Invites our
forever intrepid dude to share the stage with him, and also for Frankie to use Chizzel as the heading
for the horror section of the Wonky Bookshop! Frankie loved this. He would be the Master’s
Apprentice. Well ok, not quite apprentice, since they both had individual styles. He would be Watson,
being invited by Holmes to help solve a case, because Holmes thought him good. It would be like
nurse Chantel Lane (Lauren Drummond) in Holby City getting praise off that frosty faced cow into
‘statistics’, Serena Campbell (Catherine Russell).
What an honour for Frankie. The chance to work alongside, and be accepted by Cling, in the first
collection for The Chizzel House of Horror, Even Thinner.
