Interesting story however I will point out that for a story set in Australia there are a few things the author should note. There are no squirrels or acorns in Australia. Also Australians say Mum not Mom. They typically don't have log cabins or woods either. Use the bush instead of the woods. Bush huts weren't log cabins and if she had internet access she probably didn't live in a rough bush hut. If those basic setting issues were tided up then it could be a great story.
