Chapter Seven: The Art of Narrating
Your Experiences: What the Reader
Really Wants to Know
In your book, it is important that you stick to the things that the
audience wants to know. For instance, since you are an
entrepreneur yourself, you will know that your audience is more
interested in knowing things that you have picked up during
your time in the industry.
You must know what experiences you need to include in your
book, and which ones to leave out. To make this significant yet
difficult decision, you have to look at your book from the
reader's perspective. This is very important because, if you
flood your book with insignificant experiences and incidents, it will clog the word limit, and
make it very boring for your reader.
In addition, it is also important that your book contain enough practical experiences. This is
because there are many books from celebrated authors that only focus on the theoretical side
of the field. However, even if it is important that you learn the theoretical aspect, it is still
even more important that you have practical examples to back the theory. This way, the
reader can understand the concept in a better way. Here is my piece of advice to every
potential self-publishing author out there: aim to write a unique book, not like the hundreds
already available on the website.
