The Love I Lost

The loss of a loved one

A friend, partner, husband or wife

Acts as an exclamation mark

To the value of love and life

A chance to re asses

All we cherish and hold dear

Reacquainting with old friends

Maybe new ones will appear

A chance to rediscover you

And all that’s within

Reflecting upon your constitution

Is where you may begin

Remembering the good times

And letting go of the bad

A necessary road to redemption

Helps us from becoming too sad

To have loved and to have lost

To lost and to have found

The only way is up

When we start from the ground

Having rediscovered love

In a friend, partner or lover

We forget past losses

And triumph again with another
