Nicotine Lozenges

Nicotine lozenges are hard candies which dissolve and slowly release nicotine into the mouth.

To use a lozenge, put it in your mouth and move it back and forth to allow it to dissolve. Each lozenge should last for about 25-30 minutes. Typically, you can use about 9 lozenges a day during the first 6 weeks and then start tapering off.

Do not use lozenges beyond 12 weeks. However, different brands might have different specifications so ensure that you read through the entire manufacturer’s instructions.

The common side effects with lozenges are soreness of gums, throat irritation and stomach upset. However, just like the side-effects of other nicotine replacement products, these side-effects are short lived.
