Although I have read about 30 pages I am underwhelmed by it by not giving a strong condemnation of the slavery from start to finish by the main character.Instead we are given her romantic stirrings and concerns of the plantation owners about a possible rebellion of slaves.

Kathryn b I loved this book it is the best I have Brad in a long long time and I am an avid reader usually can to 12 novels a month. I couldn't put this book down and I was so happy that it was a long 1 and that it is a series. I'm delirious.

Loved it really wanting to read the next book but can not find it to down load on iPad, any help.

Great Book! A must read for anyone interested in this part of American history.

This isn't the book I expected when I first started to read it, but could not stop reading....it is well written. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

I agree! The story is well written. The characters are engaging and one can feel their joys, sorrows and fears. I would highly recommend this book to others.

The only reason I did not give the book five stars is that it appeared not to be edited. There were several partial sentences in odd places which occasionally made it necessary to go back and re-read a paragraph. There were almost no apostrophes (') in the book which again made it more difficult to read. The word she'd appeared as shed, we'll appeared as well, he'll appeared as hell. Many times I had to stop and decipher whether a word was intended to mean a well or we'll; shell or she'll.

Aside from the editing issue, the book was very good. I will read more of Ginny Dye's books. You are a wonderful story teller Ginny!

What a great and well written story. I was so moved by the characters and the search for if, or if not, slavery was morally correct. It was so well written that I could picture the story as I was reading it. Hats off to Ginny Dye. I will definitely be looking for more of your books.

What an amazing book! I got it out of curiosity, then couldn't stop reading once I started. I have fallen in love with the characters, and even learned a lot about the Civil War while the story kept pulling me forward. The thing I like best about Free E-books is the chance to find new authors. Ginny Dye is a keeper. I can hardly wait to read the rest of her series. I have to pay for them, but so what! I already know they will be wonderful. :)
