Ever wanted a hassle-free guide to traveling around Europe with your family? Well, this isn’t it. Looking for a list of the best attractions and places to stay? It isn’t that either. “Bon Voyage” is the record of a holiday that went horribly wrong – not once, not twice, but more times than you’ll think were possible. From lost credit cards and endless battles with Kafka-esque bureaucracies to illnesses, accidents, and run-ins with some less-than-scrupulous natives, it reads more like a list of what not to do. Join our family as we limp across the continent leaving a string of disasters in our wake - at the very least it will make you feel better about you own mishaps, and maybe you’ll get a chuckle or two along the way!

was a fun read.

Bob Biddles

If you have ever traveled on a long car journey, with kids and in a foreign country, you will associate with most of this book. Excellent.

Robert Famularo

A good easy reading book. It didn't exactly keep me laughing, but had enough humourous moments in it to make me shake my head and pity the poor family . Gives the Griswalds a run for their money.

Mozzy

An enjoyable read, well written and chortle worthy (Except perhaps for the Whitton tribe)

Yamini MacLean

Read this with great delight and fond memories of similar family trips in my childhood. James and Thomas may not know it, but this will serve them well as the years pass! Trevor, mate, you have an eye for the rediculous, but better still, the ability to convey that to the rest of us. Am now going to delve into the fiction...

Abby

I read the description and already knew it was perfect for me!

Michele

Easy book light reading

rose

good read for any traveler.

Guak-Kim Tan

I am always impressed by the humorous of aussie, and the perception is condirmed once again after reading this novel.

eniala

I enjoyed reading this book. Gave me an idea what kind of unfortunate situations to expect when traveling in Europe. Thanks Trevor.

Inna Lazarova

Neerja Karnani

Fall of the chair hilarious!

Chris

Im going to europe next year and when i started reading this story im more eager now that ever the story is fantasticly written and a great laugh at times some sorry for sure but more than that its going to be a great reference for me for places to visit and see the advantage i have is im going on a motorcycle and will be doing the trip alone so even the bad times should be pretty good thanks to the whittons i now know i will have a great adventure thanks again Trevor for a great read

Jessica

This is a pleasant enough book, especially if you have had the privilege to travel through France and Italy yourself. The stories, or rahter the adventures of the author and his family are very funny, it almost makes the actual travel descriptions unnecessary and sometimes even annoying.

Jeunes

Enjoyed this - simple light reading

Saw mars

this book is awesome it is funny n in some parts im glued n wen finally feel the urge to put down the computer n go use the bathroom or something i wonder how the hell i reach tht far cuz i dnt remember clickin so many pages

Rudi Mersy

Quite a good read initially, but soon the complaining takes over. Booking cheap accommodation, you should not be surprised if it is below standard. And the picknicking takes away so many opportunities to eating in the abundant low-cost but excellent restaurants you find everywhere. If you want to travel on a low-budget, it would be better to shorten your trip by a week and living a little better along the way.

Tina

Every time I read the story, I just can't help but laughing. Love it so much!

Claire Meeson

Terrific read - hugely amusing as well as interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Trevor Whitton

I am a retired recruitment consultant with a strong interest in European medieval history, and endeavor to weave that knowledge into my story lines. My travels throughout Europe (and particularly France) over the past thirty years allows me to bring a first hand account of the places I describe, and provides an air of authenticity to my narrative. I am a passionate and committed writer, and Pilgrimage is the first of the series featuring Jean Bellimont, Scribe of Troyes.
