Barefoot on Thin Ice

I need the breath
I need the breath
Of Spring.
Browned out
Crunc hy grass
Unbedded
And unloved
Needs a pristine blanket
Of chilly warmth
To shelter it
From the cold and
Unabiding wind .
Safe haven
For scurrying field mice
And
Safe harbor from
Broken pipes.
At rest
There
But only required to be
There
And wait for
The first warm wind
Of Spring
To evaporate its mother
Roust it from its
Winter nap
And green up
Reborn
Renewed
And refreshed.
