Samuel Butler FRS (30 January 1774 – 4 December 1839) was an English classical scholar and schoolmaster of Shrewsbury, and Bishop of Lichfield. His grandson was Samuel Butler (1835–1902), noted author of the novel "Erewhon".
Henry Fanshawe Tozer (1829 – 1916) was an English writer, teacher, and traveler. After graduating from Exeter College, Oxford, in 1850, he was tutor there from 1855 to 1893 and was also curator of the Taylor Institution (Oxford) from 1869 to 1893.[1] His brother-in-law was Ernest Mason Satow. He traveled much in Greece and in European and Asiatic Turkey, and besides editing various works.
