Super good read!the ending was disappointing, but this books sure gives us something to really think about.

I totally loved this book it is a pity that it was fictitious, i would've liked to see the prison system adopt the authors vision of rehabilitation of criminals in my life time. Fantastic concept that might work some day

I quit after about 50 pages. An interesting concept based on pie in the sky human behavior. As for reading about army stuff, I am an old Navy Air man. More books like Red October would hit the spot.

The story is not believable. A 22-year old convict General? I quit ready after that.

Somewhat disjointed, but a compelling read.

I enjoyed this book and it did suggest some interesting prospects, but I did find multiple grammar mistakes without looking.

A good read that took a concept and ran with it well giving good lateral thought to the matter. Reasoned arguments were used as a basis to extend the concept to make this an enjoyable and thought provoking read.

Excellent book well worth reading and i agree with the authors comments about the penal system.

A lot military details weren't right (see other comments), the military conflicts are so unrealistic it is beyond belief, what is written about Islam is just about as unaccurate and simplistic as it gets and the carreer of the main character Adam is so wild that even the author's trick in the last chapter doesn't save it.

Sound like a bad book? Well, it isn't.

It is written fairly, the "tools" of a writer (e.g. building the arc suspense) are being used OK. But that is not what makes the book worthwhile; what does is that it contains some very interesting and clever thoughts and ideas about what's wrong with the penal system and what could be done to fix it, not just in the U.S., but anywhere in the world. I don't think that everything could be done in the "real" world the way the author writes it, but if even a fraction was done it would make the system better, lowering the recividism rate.

And more: this book about penal reform, while highly political, is neither the usual left-wing do-gooder drivel nor right-wing criminally insane "shoot'em up" bull. It is plain middle-of-the-road common sense.

Do read, just ignore the bits the author messed up.

I to, enjoyed this book, it is fiction after all, so attention to detail is not that important. I would certainly recommend it.

I enjoyed this book, it is not poorly written, as the other review suggest. It has a little bit of a slow start, and is not a highly suspenseful book. It is a very enjoyable book, with plenty of qualities that make it definitely worth the time.

It is an interesting plot. However, it is very badly written. Also, the author does not seem to have much knowledge of the military. In the units first action in Columbia, he has a soldier coming to the rescue of Adams grabbing an "M-16 and a belt of ammo." The M-16 does not fire a belt, it fires a clip. Also, the military is not going to use a semi auto AR 15. This is the civilian version of the M 16. Glad I did not pay any money for this story.
