How You Eat
Not only does how much you eat effect your ability to lose weight but
also how you are eating determines to a large extent if you will lose
weight. Do you have a really accurate idea of exactly how much you
eat every day?
How fast you eat will affect how much you eat. Knowing how much
you eat and being aware of every bite will help you avoid filling your
plate to overflowing.
Think back to your last few meals, did you savour every bite or did you
eat so fast you can barely remember how the food tasted? If you are
aware of how you are eating you will find that your meals will last
longer and you will eat less. It will make losing weight more difficult if
you 'wolf' down your meals because when you eat slower you will eat
less.
Why is that true? Your brain is very smart but sometimes it has to wait
for information before it can act. When you eat your brain waits to
receive the "I'm full" signal. It can take up to 30 minutes for the brain
to get this signal so if you eat fast you have already consumed more
food than you should have before your brain receives the signal. By
eating slower you give your body the chance to send the signal to you
brain in time to tell you to stop eating before you have over indulged.
So eat slower, be aware of every bite and enjoy every meal.
Your Genetics And Your Metabolism
Your genetic makeup may have an effect on your metabolism but that
doesn't mean you can't make changes in your life that will have a
positive effect on your metabolism. Just because you might be
predisposed to being over-weight does not mean that you can never
lose weight and never be in shape. You can make any change in your
life that you want so do not believe that genetics has complete control
over you.. Because you can lose weight the concepts you need to
understand and use are; what you eat and how much you move.
