• How do I change my Username?

• FREE (Standard) vs. Paid (VIP) accounts
  Standard memberships are FREE and allow members unlimited access to eBooks in the HTML format and access to 5 eBooks each and every month in the PDF and/or TXT formats.

  VIP Memberships are available for a small fee, but provide a wide range of additional benefits to VIP Members. Besides unlimited access to the HTML, Text and PDF formats, VIP members can also download unlimited books in the MobiPocket and ePub formats, get first access to new books, priority customer service, storage space for their favorites, and much more.
• How do I download an eBook?
  

  1) Register for an account here
  2) login here
  3) Select the appropriate category from the left vertical menu (or browse by author)
  4) Once you see a book you like, please click on the book's title or one of the formats listed under the description. In most cases books are available in 5 formats:

  • HTML
  • PDF
  • TXT
  • ePUB (reserved for VIP Members)
  • MOBIPOCKET (reserved for VIP Members)

  Simply select the format you'd like. Please remember that the Mobi and ePub formats are available exclusively to VIP Members.
• How can I add an eBook to my Kindle, SONY or other eReader?
  

  The majority (but not all) of our books are offered in both the ePub and Mobi formats, available exclusively to VIP Members.
  
  If you are using a Kindle, please select the Mobi format.
  
  If you are using another eReader, please use the ePub format.
  
  If you'd like to download Mobi or ePub formats, please register as a VIP Member here or if you are currently a Standard Member please upgrade to VIP status here. To read books on your eReader, you should:
  
  1) Select the appropriate format (Kindle: Mobi, other eReader: ePub)
  2) Save the file to a location you can recall on your computer
  3) Connect your eReader to your computer
  4) Your eReader should now appear on your computer in the same location you would normally find an external USB drive. (In Windows go to the 'Start' menu > 'Computer')
  5) Click on the eReader and open the folders until you locate the folder where the eBooks on your eReader are stored.
  6) Now copy/paste the file (eBooks) you had originally downloaded to your computer (step 2 above) to your device's eBook folder
  7) Unplug your device and you're all set!
• Using your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch
  

  Users of Apple's iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch can download our Apple App and enjoy our services directly on their device. To install the App on your device please follow these instructions:
  
  Note: our Apple App requires that your device runs iOS 3.0 or later. If you are running an earlier iOS version, please connect your device to you computer, open iTunes and upgrade your software to the latest iOS.
  
  

  1. Make sure you have iTunes installed on your computer
  2. With your device UNCONNECTED to your computer, please download the App here. Please give iTunes a few moments to open.
  3. With the App description page open in your iTunes, click the grey "Free App" button. Enter your iTunes login info and proceed with the verification if not already logged in. Your download should begin.
  4. Once the download has finished, click on the "Apps" menu option on the left-hand side of iTunes.
  5. Connect your device to your computer. iTunes show now be 'syncing' the App to your device automatically. If this does not happen, please select your device from the lef-hand iTunes menu, and hit the grey 'sync' button (normally on the bottom right)
  6. Check that the App is installed on your device and disconnect the device. You are now ready to use the Free eBooks Apple App!

• How do I cancel my account?
  For Standard Members: Simply contact us with your USERNAME and we'll close your account.

• Formats: what are the different formats?
  

  The majority of our books are offered in your choice of either HTML, TXT, PDF, ePUB or MobiPocket (.PRC) formats
  HTML: best for quick previews and translations directly online
  TXT: can be read in any word processor, plus good for printing
  PDF: Reading on your computer (PC or MAC), plus printing
  ePub: is the format you'll need for just about every eReader out there (SONY, Nook, Hanlin, etc) except the Amazon Kindle
  Mobipocket (mobi): is the format you'll need to use for your Amazon Kindle
• Every eBook I check asks me to be a VIP; what gives?
  Almost all our eBooks come in 5 formats: HTML, TXT, PDF, ePub & Mobipocket. The ePub and Mobi formats are reserved exclusively for VIP members, so please make sure that you are selecting a format available to Free Standard Members: HTML, PDF or TXT
• Why can't I open the PDF format?
  1) Please make sure you are a registered member. You may register with us here
  2) Please make sure you have a functional copy of Adobe PDF Reader (or similar program) installed on the device you are trying to open the book with. Adobe Reader can be downloaded for FREE here if you need it.
  3) If you are a Standard Member, you are limited to 5 PDF downloads per month. If you have reached your limit, please revisit next month to get an additional 5 PDF books or upgrade to VIP status to download unlimited books.
• Why can't I open the Mobi formats?
  1) Please make sure you are a VIP Member. If you have not yet registered with us, you can register here. If you are a Standard Member, please upgrade your account here.
  2) Please make sure you have the appropriate version of the Mobipocket reader installed on the device you are using to open the books. The Mobipocket Reader is free and available here. Remember there are different versions of the Mobipocket Reader for different devices so please select the appropriate one. For more help with MobiPocket, please see their forums here
• Why can't I open the ePub formats?
  1) Please make sure you are a VIP Member. If you have not yet registered with us, you can register here. If you are a Standard Member, please upgrade your account here.
  2A) If using an eBook Reader: Please make sure your eBook Reader supports the ePUB format. Consult your user's guide for further information
  2B) If using your computer: please make sure you have software that supports ePub format such as Adobe Digital Editions which can be downloaded here for free
• I'm having issues with my eReader; can you help?
  Unfortunately, apart from the answers that are already listed on this page we cannot provide assistance with Kindles, SONY Readers, other eReaders or mobile devices. Our dedicated service team is well versed in our services and products, but may not be with other companies' devices. For assistance with your Kindle or other eReader please contact the manufacturer or try the MobiPocket Forums here.
• If you don't have the eBook I want, can you get it for me?
  We need to wait until the author/owner of eBook submits it to us. If you know or want to contact the author suggesting they submit to us, that is appreciated.
• How to Decrease/Increase Font Size?
  

  There are several ways to increase the text size depending on the format you choose:
  
  1) HTML Format: when you access a book in the HTML format, on the top right of the page there will be a 'Tools' section - in there, there is a button to increase/decrease the font to a certain degree
  
  2) PDF Format: most PDF readers, like the Adobe PDF reader will allow you to increase/decrease the font size. In the Adobe Reader, click the minus (-) or plus (+) icon in the top toolbar of the reader to adjust the size. This may produce scroll bars when increasing the fonts.
  
  3) TXT Format: is you use a program like Notepad to open/read a TXT file, click on 'edit' in the top menu, then 'select all' from the submenu. This will highlight all the text. With all the text highlighted click 'Format' from the top menu, then 'font'. From there you can select the font size you desire.
  
  4) ePUB: if you are a VIP Member you can download ePub files. You can then use the free Adobe Digital Editions to read ePub files on your computer. Click the small or large 'A' in the top toolbar of Adobe Editions to decrease/increase the font.
  
  5) eBook Readers: all eReaders (Kindle, SONY, Nook, etc) have the capacity to adjust the font size. Please consult your device's instruction manual in order to learn how to do so.
• Using your iPhone, iPad or Ipod Touch

• Why do you charge for eBook submissions?
  Several mains reasons:
  1) To avoid spam. Free submission lead to more spam being submitted then we can handle
  2) Our dedicated editors spend a lot of time reviewing each submission to make sure they meet our standards and submissions charges are used to compensate them,
  3) To better market your book. We want to expose your books to as many readers as possible, and submission charges help us to further market the site, providing us all with more traffic.
  4) Our editors take time to create a cover for you and convert your eBook to additional formats for our readers
• How can I tell how many people have downloaded my eBook?
  

  Next to each book's description, you will find a gray box on the right. Inside of this box you can see the "Downloads" which lets you see how many times a book's been accessed.
• How can I get a cover for my eBook?
  

  There are 2 options:
  
  1) you can submit a cover image when submitting your book.
  2) If you do not submit one, our editors will create a cover for you within a few days of your submission based on what they feel is appropriate.
• How can I set or edit an author bio?
  1) Login to your account
  2) At the top right you will see an orange button 'My Profile'
  3) The profile filled in here will accompany your eBooks.
  *Additionally you can set or change the bio for each individual book you submit by visiting the "Author Area" (orange top button as well) and clicking on 'edit bio' under each book listed there.
• What is the 'Donate' Button and how does it work?
  

  We understand that many authors are "up and comers" and might appreciate receiving monetary support to keep writing. Therefore, readers who enjoy a certain book and wish to support its author can click on the "Donate to Author" button next to a book's listing (where applicable) and send a donation via PayPal.com. All donations go directly to the author's Paypal account. Free-eBooks.net does not get involved in the process in any way or receives any part of the donations. If you are an author, you may choose to accept donations by adding your Paypal address in the appropriate section in the "Author Area" (orange button, top right).
• My eBook is yet to appear in the 'Latest Arrivals' section; how come?
  VIP members get 'first peaks' at new arrivals. This means that for the first week, only VIP members can access new books through their individual accounts. After this time, your book will then appear on the Homepage under the 'Latest Arrivals' section for all to see.
• How can I get my eBook featured on your Homepage or in your Newsletter?
  

  Simply select the promotional options you want from here.
• How are the Top 10 lists calculated?
  The top 10 is not defined strictly by the number of overall downloads. Many factors are calculated in this 'secret recipe' including time, likes/dislikes, comments and more. In determining the 'Top' we attempt to determine the ‘most popular and liked’ not just the most 'downloaded infinitely'.

• Can I share, sell or otherwise distribute your eBooks?
  The books on our site are free for PERSONAL use ONLY. When submitting books to us, authors retain their copyrights. In most cases, authors will be happy if you spread the word of their book with others. HOWEVER, you should never sell or use the eBooks found here for any commercial purpose without first obtaining consent directly from the book's author(s).
